Performance

My performance practice centers on the guitar, expanded into a laboratory of sound through found objects, physical interventions, and electronics. I approach the instrument not only as a vehicle of communication but as a site of transformation, where its historical role across experimental and popular music collides with personalized modes of playing. The guitar becomes a medium of exaggeration and excess: its ‘histrionic’ gestures are reframed through spontaneous composition, collaborative projects, and experimental recordings. Central to my approach is an inquiry into augmented instrumentality, where everyday materials and digital processes extend the guitar’s voice and reimagine its expressive possibilities.

Selected Solo Projects

palpability - improvisation triptych I 2023

Video triptych recorded separately throughout the Spring of 2023 of standalone improvisations

isthmus|vertebrae - album (parts I, II, III, and IV) 2023

(performed by the composer)

Recordings of solo improvised performances from the summer of 2023 between the Bay Area/USA and Bahia/Brazil. All involving different setups of prepared electric guitar, objects, and electronics.

⦿ Ꭵʂtɦmuʂ|vєrtєbrαє IV
Description: improvised performance with 2 prepared scordatura guitars (with contact microphones), electronic interference, closely amplified objects, and amplified transformed voice.

⦿ ᎥᎥʂtɦmuʂ|vєrtєbrαє III
Description: pre-recorded no-input mixer improvised performance (level one of improvisation) acting as the carrier signal in a real-time cross-synthesis system being modulated by a live improvised scordatura electric guitar performance (level 2 of improvisation), plus a multichannel sine tone machine with an inverted envelope follower reacting to the cross-synth output.

⦿ Ꭵʂtɦmuʂ|vєrtєbrαє II
Description: improvised scordatura electric guitar performance with real-time spectral processing (spectral bin shifting, filter and blurring).

⦿ Ꭵʂtɦmuʂ|vєrtєbrαє I
Description: improvised performance of prepared guitar, amplified objects, auxiliary open-strings scordatura guitar, MIDI controller keyboard, and automated sine tones Max/MSP patch.

The Glitch Bloom (Eda Er & Danniel Ribeiro) operates in an indefinable musical territory where the lines between composed work, improvisation, and multimedia blur into a distinctive sonic fusion. Their artistic practice combines vocals, electronic elements, electric guitar, and video with transducers, unconventional playing techniques, and sculptural objects, establishing a fluid relationship between planned structure and spontaneous creation. Founded on mutual investigation of sound possibilities, collaborative processes, and multimedia integration, Glitch Bloom embraces unexpected outcomes—where harsh sounds intermingle with melodic elements, acoustic manipulations transform through electronic processing, and sound manifests as both physical and transient. Their performances create immersive environments that explore the convergence of music, physical movement, and visual components to deliver an experience that defies traditional classification.
